TRIA Rink

The TRIA Rink is a multi-purpose facility where the Wild practice and is the home of the NWHL Minnesota Whitecaps, a women’s professional hockey team. It is also the home ice for Hamline University’s hockey team.

As the primary sponsor of the rink, I worked with the art director to brainstorm and build up several of the wall faces and signage to represent TRIA.

In order to make the spaces more interactive for fans, several walls included  Fan Facts, fun informational facts about the Wild for fans to learn about as they travel through the halls of the rink. There is also a wooden puck wall, shaped like the state of Minnesota, where kids can drop off pucks from their respective hockey communities that are then placed on the wall. An oversized stack of hockey pucks is used as the puck drop-off.

Working with the Wild, the rink and the printer, designs were created and then updated based on the changing plans of the rink. We had to go to the rink while it was still being built, measuring the spaces and accounting for everything from doors to power outlets, making sure that the designs would fit accordingly.
